I journal-ed this poem on March 1st, 2019, knowing that this is the month of the woman and March 8 was International Women’s Day. I was inspired by my mom, my daughter’s and my friends. I hope to share this everywhere!
For I thrive on the backs of those before me,
Who let me push the full weight of my soul,
Upon their fighting minds and wise ways.
They, who saw themselves as not inferior,
Not to be owned,
Not to be ignored.
For theirs is a might unlike anything in this world,
A wonder upon which to be revered.
A roar meant to be heard.
We stand alongside humankind,
Being kind, working hard, adding value to…
Thank you to the many of my kind.
The many who fought, the many who continue to fight,
I like to consider myself a bit of both, but more on the right… or…alot more on the right! It’s a wonderful depiction really…simple and vivid. I more or less depends on the situation in determining which side of the brain I will use.
I am the left brain. I am a scientist. A mathematician. I love the familiar. I categorize. I am accurate. Linear. Analytical. Strategic. I am practical. Always in control. A master of words and language. Realistic. I calculate equations and play with numbers. I am order. I am logic. I know exactly who I am.
I am the right brain. I am creativity. A free spirit. I am passion. Yearning. Sensuality. I am the sound of roaring laughter. I am taste. The feeling of sand beneath bare feet. I am movement. Vivid colors. I am the urge to paint on an empty canvas. I am boundless imagination. Art. Poetry. I sense. I feel. I am everything I want to be.
What side are you on? Are you a little of each? Do tell!
So lately I’ve been quite the Anglophile, watching Downton Abby and Sherlock…love Masterpiece Theater, so I can’t help but think that I wrote this pretending to have an English accent. Feel free to use the accent of your choice when reading things…it’s rather fun!
I’m getting back into the digital creative groove…especially when I get to work with digital designer, Karla Dudley and her wonderful kits at Pixel and Co. Here is a few to start the year off. And now that I am almost over this nasty flu that had been going around, I feel well enough to say that now the new year can begin!
